At just 9 years old, Hattie<\/strong><\/a> is already making waves as a rising star in both the modeling and acting worlds. She was awarded Junior Style\u2019s Model of the Year<\/strong><\/a> at our very first awards last year and has appeared in campaigns for iconic brands including Balmain<\/strong>, Zara Kids<\/strong>, Misha and Puff<\/strong>, and many others. Most recently, she landed her first lead role in a film<\/strong>\u2014a powerful experience that pushed her creativity and deepened her passion for storytelling. From fashion editorials to the set of NCIS: Origins<\/em>, Hattie\u2019s journey is just beginning\u2014and it\u2019s one you\u2019ll definitely want to follow.<\/p>\n

We caught up with Hattie for a fun editorial photoshoot that captures her bold personality and signature style. Whether she\u2019s dressed in a Lanvin couture gown<\/strong> or keeping it cool in a laid-back casual look<\/strong>, she brings a fresh, effortless energy to everything she wears. She\u2019s the perfect example of how elevated fashion can feel authentic and lived-in<\/strong>\u2014our favorite mix of high style and real life.<\/p>\n

Q: Hi Hattie! Tell us a little bit about yourself \u2014 what do you love to do?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Hi! I’m 9 years old,I live in South Florida and absolutely love the warm sunshine and hot weather! A fun fact about me: I was born in Haiti and moved to the United States when I was 3. I\u2019m a true Caribbean girl at heart.<\/p>\n

Q: What\u2019s the best part about being a model and actor?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> I love bringing my personality and experiences into each photoshoot and role. Every project becomes uniquely me<\/em>! I also love reuniting with friends I\u2019ve worked with before and meeting new ones. One of the best<\/em> parts is traveling to new places for exciting adventures!<\/p>\n

Q: How did your journey begin?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> I started modeling at age 5 when I was scouted by an agent who asked to represent me. Then, around 6 or 7, I expanded into acting \u2014 and now I love both!<\/p>\n

Modeling Moments<\/h3>\n

Q: Do you have a favorite shoot or brand you\u2019ve worked with?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> I truly feel lucky to work with every client, but I adore<\/em> my shoots with the Zara Kids team. They\u2019re always so kind, caring, and really let me be myself.<\/p>\n

Q: If you could work with any brand next, who would it be?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Polo Ralph Lauren is at the top of my list! They\u2019re iconic in the fashion world. I\u2019d also love to work with any luxury brand \u2014 that would be a dream come true!<\/p>\n

Q: What do you love most about Junior Style?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> My mom and I love looking through the blog together. The editorials are so<\/em> beautiful and feature amazing brands from all over. I especially love the PINK stories (because pink is my fave!). I also had a blast walking in the Junior Style-sponsored Children\u2019s Show \u2014 so much fun!<\/p>\n

Q: What did it mean to win Junior Style\u2019s Model of the Year?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> It was such an honor! I was so surprised \u2014 and grateful. To be nominated among so many talented models and then chosen by friends and industry professionals meant the world to me.<\/p>\n

Q: Are there any models who inspire you?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Yes! As a young Black model, I\u2019m always noticing professional models in ads, magazines, store windows… I get so excited when I see them and tell my mom, “That\u2019s gonna be me someday!” One of my biggest inspirations is Maty Fall. Her confidence and beauty \u2014 especially on the runway \u2014 are amazing!<\/p>\n

Q: What\u2019s your favorite item in your closet right now?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> You might not believe this, but it\u2019s a vintage pair of cut-off Levi\u2019s jean shorts I found at a New York Goodwill \u2014 in the boys\u2019 section! They\u2019re super comfy, and I style them with a metallic belt, a white tank or button-down, and metallic sneakers. My style is a mix of tomboy and girly-girl \u2014 and it totally works!<\/p>\n

Q: Do you follow fashion trends?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Not really. I wear what I like! But right now, I\u2019m loving wide-leg pants and pantsuits. I always go for a good set when I find one.<\/p>\n

Acting Adventures<\/h3>\n

Q: You were recently featured in a film! What was that like?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Yes! I booked my first lead role, and it was so special to tell the true story of a real-life person. The hardest part was portraying the emotional scenes, especially when I didn\u2019t have personal experiences to relate to. But I dug deep and found the emotion. I also loved working with Krys Marshall \u2014 she\u2019s such an amazing actress!<\/p>\n

Q: What\u2019s your dream role?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Honestly, anything that lets me explore and grow \u2014 but something powerful and emotional would be amazing!<\/p>\n

Q: What made you want to try acting?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Like modeling, I kind of stumbled into it. I gave it a try and realized I love<\/em> being on set. It\u2019s my favorite place to be!<\/p>\n

Q: Any favorite projects so far?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> I\u2019ve been lucky to do many commercials and series, but my favorite is my current role as Mildred on NCIS: Origins<\/em>. From the audition to being on set at Paramount, it just feels right \u2014 like home.<\/p>\n

Q: Who would you love to act alongside someday?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Zoe Salda\u00f1a \u2014 I would be giddy to work with her!<\/p>\n

Q: Do you prefer dramatic, comedic, or action roles?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> I love<\/em> comedy, but I think my strength is in dramatic roles.<\/p>\n

Q: How do you prep for auditions?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> No big rituals \u2014 just hard work, lots of practice, and time with my acting coach!<\/p>\n

Life Outside the Spotlight<\/h3>\n

Q: What are your favorite hobbies?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> I\u2019m a competitive USAG gymnast, so when I\u2019m not modeling or acting, I\u2019m in the gym! I also love photography \u2014 I bring my camera everywhere \u2014 and hanging with my BFF and sisters. We swim, scooter, craft\u2026 it\u2019s the best.<\/p>\n

Q: Favorite subjects at school?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Science is my fave! I love experiments and watching chemical reactions. So cool!<\/p>\n

Q: What\u2019s your favorite book or movie?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> My current fave books are And They Found Dragons<\/em> and Ivy & Bean<\/em>. My all-time favorite movie is Wicked<\/em>!<\/p>\n

Q: Favorite place in the world?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Wherever my family is \u2014 that\u2019s home to me.<\/p>\n

Q: Any other fashion careers you\u2019d consider someday?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> For sure \u2014 photography and maybe hair and makeup!<\/p>\n

Hattie\u2019s Heart<\/h3>\n

Q: Who inspires you most?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Jesus is my #1 role model. I\u2019m learning every day how to follow Him. I also really look up to Simone Biles. She inspires me as a gymnast and as a strong Black woman who works hard and never gives up.<\/p>\n

Q: What are your biggest dreams for the future?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> I just told my mom \u2014 I want to be an award-winning actor, a model, and a photographer!<\/p>\n

Q: If you had three wishes, what would one of them be?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> I\u2019d wish for a cleaner earth. I really care about keeping our world beautiful.<\/p>\n

Q: What advice do you have for other kids who want to model or act?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Be yourself<\/em> \u2014 that\u2019s your superpower!<\/p>\n

Q: Any final words of encouragement?<\/strong>
A:<\/strong> Do what makes you happy. Be yourself. And always enjoy others.<\/p>\n
