AW20 Trends Perfect For Living The Lockdown Life!

Autumn/Winter 2020 fashion trends are truly comfortable and cosy.

With many kids learning online at home due to the lockdowns and us all being limited in places to go out, you littles can still express themselves through fashion at home. As the weather continues to get colder and darker incorporating some of the pieces featured below will keep your little one happy and comfortable so they can focus on their work and yet still feel stylish!

The past few years a big trend in fashion has been the athleisure market. Athleisure style is combining athletic wear with comfortable fabrics, it enables you to wear your favourite sports clothes as streetwear.

Since everyone is staying at home more during the lockdown, follow this trend to feel as good as you look!

AW20 Trends Perfect For Living The Lockdown Life!

Colour Therapy

Usually, Fall-Winter Collections consist of darker colours, this year it’s all about the primary colours.  This type of colour therapy helps with brightening moods.  Wearing your favourite Kukukid Dino Puffer Vest at home not only saves electricity but puts a smile on your face.

Another trend is tie-dye.  I don’t know about you but our attempts didn’t look as good as Molo’s. We love the Molo Tie-dye Sweatshirt with the print of a tie-dye spiral and the Velour Sweatpants as above. Rainbow colours will be sure to lift spirits.

It’s the Details

Another way to express yourself (and look cool for Zoom!) is it to look for everyday pieces but with amazing little details.  Puffy sleeves continue in popularity and have made their way to athleisure clothing.  Now we also see quirky prints, interesting fabrics such as velvet, sherpa and faux fur, unexpected accents like zippers, collars and ruffles all finish your perfect look at home.

We love Jelly Mallow Cherry Unisex Lounge Suit.  The zippers at the legs allow you to pull on a cosy pair of Uggs easily!

Boden’s fun Space theme look is perfect.  Although the top is made of cruelty-free sherpa fabric, it matches the rocket appliques on the Out Of This World Joggers.

River Island’s ultra-feminine sweatshirt with a lace collar and rhinestones gives your little one a Princess Diana kind of vibe.  Paired with Caroline Bosman’s pink frill track pants makes it fun and more Lady Gaga.

AW20 Trends Perfect For Living The Lockdown Life!

Back to the 90’s

The infamous 90’s windbreaker gives every mom Saved by the Bell vibes! But it also has made its way back into fashion but with a new take. Combining colours, fun prints, and modern details, this retrograde jumper can be paired with any bottom.

Mini Rodini’s pullover combines cool leopard print along with primary colours. It’s perfect for families to hand me down between brothers and sisters.

Stella Kids sustainable clothing makes the Logo Sport top a good buy. It always feels good to be saving the earth.

Hummel is bringing also the 70’s back on their take of the windbreaker in this Colour Block Longline Sweatshirt. We love the muted colours and cool Danish style.

Jelly Alligator meticulously construct each item and then they are sewn together by seamstresses in Europe.  Their new Steam Punk collection is completely unique and fun and we love the Cupids Arrow Track Top above.

We hope you have found some inspiration for these homeschooling days during the pandemic and the lockdown!

Summer Trends 2019 https://juniorstyle.net/summer-trends-2019/ https://juniorstyle.net/summer-trends-2019/#respond Sat, 16 Mar 2019 06:26:46 +0000 https://juniorstyle.net/?p=20176 Now the new season collections have launched, Lauren Morrison gives you the low down on key trends.

Summer Trends 2019

As we enter a new season in fashion, we feel a spring in our step and the spirit of optimism in the air.  Lauren Morrison from Mi Bambino highlights new trends for this season. We are entering a precarious time and with political uncertainty, this resonates within three main forecasts and trend direction for the Spring Summer season.

Sustainable Fashion

The world and its environment are changing.  Nature is so vital for us to preserve. Purchasing locally sourced and ethically produced garments and products is becoming more commonplace. Sustainability will become more transparent with universal ideas of saving our planet. This trend romanticises nature and rural lifestyles with comforting colour ranges of foliage greens, blues, amber tones, buttercreams and soft pastels.  Subtle shapes and slogans T-shirts inform our need for change. Floral ditsy prints and jacquards will be a common theme with this trend. Lace imprints are nice details on blouses in natural cotton.

Creativity & Self-Expression

The freedom of self-expression through political environments and reforms of change is seen more widely.  As we explore the reforms of change, we are drawing on inspiration from the 1990s summer festival scene, to become more included in social awareness. In fashion, we see sportswear becoming more prominent, liberated and creative to express ourselves, especially in kidswear. We are going to see slouchy classics, oversized sweatshirts, deconstructed and vented garments becoming a focus. The colour palette for this trend punchy pink, rebellious red, blue energy and nostalgic green for retro sportswear. Patterns & prints are bold and punchy, with reference to beach days, holidays and summer fun. “Miami Fun In The Sun” springs to mind, with strong bold prints and colours for high summer trends.

Human Touch

With the ever-increasing number of us obsessed with tracking our social media, personal data, and news feeds, Human touch explores an urge to re-connect emotionally, physically. We see movements to disengage or opt out entirely with things that bring us anxiety. Within these trends, we will see reflective and light materials in activewear but also soft pastels and super brights to energise and soothe. Soft pastel metallics will be on skirts or statement pieces. Prints and graphics will be bold statements with pixelated details of that will merge with streetwear. High Summer will have a beach party themes and reflective visors for accessories.

Mesh Details  – Sports with Style  (Above)

New emerging brand Galle Paris for SS19, has curated a collection that is inspired by athleisure with fabric details, mesh, statement typography, bold colours from Red, blue, retro greens, and punchy pink for girls wear.

Crumpled – The Design Process

For SS19 we see crumpled finishes being used in cotton, viscose materials or lightweight nylon that will be designed in dresses or tops with bold colour directions. Ruffle detail designs on trousers or jeans will be a common theme in girls wear and add a little pizazz to your wardrobe.

Summer Trends 2019

Tulle – Layered and Feminine

This season we see Tulle fabric that follows a sporty outlook with bold solid colours. Tulle is layered with stripes or prints underneath.

Summer Trends 2019

The Bomber – With Wording

Pitti Bimbo Trends For AW19

Pitti Bimbo kicked off the AW19 season by connecting the visitor’s experience by introducing multi-sensory boxes throughout the pavilions.  There is always lots to celebrate at Pitti with new brands showcasing their first collection, brands launching their Fall19 collections, runway shows, awards and events – Celebrating 60 years of Barbie!

Pitti Bimbo Trends For AW19

The Infinity Box was the special video art gallery where you can immerse into a high visual energy experience.

The Show Box was an integral part of Pitti Bimbo show which was the focus for talks, ideas and special contributions. The show box also illustrated a range of videos from Style Piccoli, Kid’s wear Magazine “Eyes up, Eyes Down, see what’s been grown” and Milk Magazine “In Situ in Vivo” By Katrine Roheberg and young seniors by Elisabeth Toll.

Other experiences and events took place in the Park Box, Recharge and the Silence Box.

With regard to fashion, there was a re-appearance of brands form the 90’s for example, Caterpillar and Sergio Tacchini, aimed for the teen streetwear market.

The Pitti Bimbo Runway shows are always something to look forward to and on the 17th January 2019, the Children’s Fashion From Spain focused on Spanish brands, AMAYA, BOBOLI, ABEL & LULA, MAYORAL, TARTALETA, TUC TUC. Other shows featured brands that were exhibiting at the show within the pavilions KIDZFIZZ and APARTMENT, and outside of the Pitti Bimbo show was the much anticipated Monnalisa runway show.

New licensing inspires new brands and trends

Sergio Tacchini was a key player in athletic sportswear alongside Fila in the early 80s/90s before Nike and Adidas came to the forefront. Sergio Tacchini had sponsorships with key tennis players of that time, i.e. Gabriela Sabatini, Jimmy Connors, Pat Cash and John McEnroe. We now see brands of the early 80s and 90s making a resurgence into fashion but focusing on the tween and youth market where this style is relevant and current for that laid-back pairing for tweens and the youth market. These labels are just as important as the branded designer labels of household names such as Fendi and Gucci. However, the athleisure market is blurring the lines of comfort, style with dress up and dress down approach to styling for children’s wear. The duck down puffers, slick trousers bottoms and slogan sweats have the nostalgia of the 80s /90s colour waves, design details and textures.

“You better go in your attic and pull out your old vintages Sergio Tacchini and show your kids how it’s really done”.

Pitti Bimbo Trends For AW19

Caterpillar. We all know Caterpillar is recognized for construction machinery and has an extensive timeline since the late 1800s. However, Caterpillar came to the forefront within apparel around 1994 with its Caterpillar work boots, with the license being sold to Wolverine World Wide. Caterpillar competed with Timberland and Rockport boots within the early 90s to hold their market position. Now Caterpillar has surfaced within kidswear just like Sergio Tacchini, with jeans, puffers, sweats, joggers, slogans Tees all with the Iconic yellow and logo. This is a fresh approach for teen wear, with the new season sees T-shirts with raised lettering and embossed prints.

It’s all in the detail: Sweatshirts had Velcro slogans, quirky slogans with meaning and zip pockets on the back of the sweatshirts. (Daniele Alessandrini)

Emerging brands:

STMA collection are new to children’s wear market they have an elegant women’s wear range that is deep-rooted in underground culture but designed with details that make a difference for any teens wardrobe.

STMA collections are the result of accurate research brave experiments and unusual juxtapositions elegant and feminine items rooted in the underground culture and now part of a chic and well-researched world. A design characterised by certainties and defined volumes, elegant as well as shameless details. A pure and delicate line, characterised by perfect wearability, by trendy forms and important details that make a difference”.

The herringbone pattern on the collar, cuffs and pockets define and adds detail to a simple design. This also adds a lot of class and a grown-up feel to girls outerwear. The Herringbone pattern for outerwear can be seen a lot in brands with bold contrasting colour patterns on the cuffs and pockets.

Velvet made an appearance in different product categories for children’s fashion and can be seen in trims, quilted jackets and dresses, which is great for the party season!

This month’s trend focuses on various product categories from boyswear for AW18; we take look at how boys clothing is evolving its own identity from directions that have trickled down from men’s wear. Sometimes the boyswear market can be overshadowed by the girlswear market regarding designs, photography and style. However, this is changing and boyswear is gradually moving to the forefront of creative and innovative designs from brands.

Re-evaluates – Old into New (Above image).

Trousers dominate a more relaxed fit with a wide leg.  You will see prints and patterns emerging in brands highlighting camouflage, bold stripes and slogan tapes that are intertwined in comfortable jersey knits. Contrast knee patches update both knit and woven trousers. The causal jogger makes an upgrade this season into a smarter constructed version. The use of different materials of denim, cotton –wool blends, stretch denim styles echo the rise of athleisure.

Tape Slogan – Write On Me (Below).

For AW18 boyswear we see tops that are more relaxed; oversized sweatshirts which are loose and comfortable in knit and woven materials.  T-shirts combine solid colours with printed panelling and novelty prints create grand statements pieces to mix and match with core basics.  Velours emerge on sweatshirts that create an added detail for different shapes.

For this season, vibrant shirts have a playful novelty. Small or large scale prints are placed on dark backgrounds. This makes prints come alive, making a bold and colourful piece in your son’s wardrobe which can be worn with their core basics. Prints to look out for are hand-illustrated scrawls, animal repeats, abstract digital prints and two-tone stars.

The traditional shirting jacket this season is updated with military-style evoking heritage badges and pleated pockets. This style is playful and can be upgraded with cool, warm tones of Olive and traditional dark hues.

Kids footwear trends for SS19 from MICAM Milan

Held twice a year, in February and in September, in the Fiera Milano trade fair district, MICAM is the footwear’s leading international exhibition promoted by Assocalzaturifici Italiani. It closed its 86th edition last Wednesday with 45,424 visitors, among which 60% from abroad and 40% from Italy, confirming the international DNA of the fair. The footwear collections at each edition are over 2.000 showcasing women’s, men’s and children’s’ lines for the following season.

Most of the kids’ collections are showcased in iKids square, an entertaining area at MICAM with snacks and refreshments, a huge yellow seesaw and a swinging tyre seat, a lady making giant bubbles, and Christophe Guinet, aka Monsieur Plant, with its floral shoe masterpieces.

But, which are the kids’ footwear trends for SS19?

Footwear trends for spring summer 2019 season, kids’ footwear included, are drawing inspiration from meditation, both physical and mental well-being, and feeling good with oneself and the others, with a colour palette that can positively affect everyone’s mood.

Comfort and functionalities are key, and kids’ footwear shapes are minimalist, classic or revisited. Sandals, in particular, carry on growing, with fisherman sandals being a must have for next season together with summer pop slides.

Materials, on the other hand, are soft and pleasant to the touch. This is particularly true for high-cut loafer silhouettes that come in soft leather or cotton.

Below is our selection from some of the best Italian labels that presented the kids footwear trends for SS19 from MICAM Milan.

Asso‘s SS19 collection renew its sporty footprint with a wide range of easy-to-wear sneakers thanks to the softness of the materials. Some of the prints are available for babies as well as girls/moms.

Trend Edit: Velvet Underground

Velvet, a perennial winter fabric, has gone underground this season. It’s a lot less formal and 100% attitude, bursting with rich colour, silhouettes and prints.

Traditionally velvet kids’ fashion is something reserved for very special occasions or Christmas day family photos, but this season the tactile texture has been given a more urban makeover.  While the fabrics anything from luxury velvet to velours and the must-have corduroy.

The look is simple, go bold or go home with rich colours, mustard and oxblood are my absolute favourites. How to wear it? Tap into your inner minimalist and pair the kids’ outfits with simple dark denim, understated sporty separates and their simplest pair of trainers.

Velvet Underground Selection: 1.River Island Jacket, 2. Caroline Bosmans T-shirt at Little Rags and Riches, 3. Douuod Skirt from Smallable, 4. Beau Loves Dress, 5. Young Soles Shoes, 6. Infantium Victoria Jacket, 7. Soft Gallery Dress from Smallable, 8. Caroline Bosmans Hat at Little Rags and Riches, 9. Bobo Choses Trousers at the Mini Edit, 10. Unauthorized Hoody at Alex and Alexa, 11. Stella McCartney Coat.

For AW18, we see fashion taking reference from technology as our reality is becoming more intrinsically woven with technology in our society. The Trend Dark Matta focuses on outer space and how humanity has a common interest with the unknown, science fiction and escapism.

Space Odyssey – Textured Materials (Above image).

The fabrics for this trend need to be functional and casual.  There is a focus on metallic fibres, jacquards and brocades. However, sculptural details play a reference to alien life forms. This playful trend is good for the holiday and partywear season.

AW18 Dark Matta - The Fusion Of Fashion And TechnologyNeon Lights – Beacons In The Darkness (Above).

This trend has a pop of colour that makes you stand out from the crowd which is perfect for the party wear season for fall18. The trend is reminiscent of the 90s and adds flare to the product with reflective surfaces and glossy finishes.

AW18 Dark Matta - The Fusion Of Fashion And TechnologyGalactic – Space Circus.

This trend is defined by the traditional nature of the circus, with a twist of outer space thrown into the mix. This makes the trend playful by adding metallic ruffles and outer space graphics to garments.

AW18 Dark Matta - The Fusion Of Fashion And TechnologyNights Dream – Reflective Materials.

This trend embodies an oily, metallic and glossy sheen to garments whether it’s in outerwear, tops or separates. It provides a sleek look to styles when layering for the winter and adds a little drama to your child’s wardrobe.

Ciff Kids Trends Report SS19 #ciffkids #trends #ciff #copenhagen

It was my first visit to CIFF KIDS in the summertime and it did not disappoint.  One of the highlights of the bi-annual trade show was the catwalk show, where attendees of the outdoor show viewed four different trends for SS19, which included Neon Haze, Green Traveller, Sporty – one of our favourite looks, Campus and Farmers Market that featured key styles for the summer season.   You can still view our highlights from the catwalk in our Instagram Events Highlights.

The relaxed showroom style setting of CIFF KIDS  creates an inspirational universe.

Brands that caught my eye were Dutch brand Club Cinq, new kidswear label to show at CIFF KIDS, Age to Come Apparel, which designs cool, comfortable and conscious clothing for kids and will launch a new collection for ladies in the coming months! A great find was a new brand from the Paper collective, Mado which features the most sublime illustrations perfect not only for your kid’s bedroom walls but there were several illustrations I’d love to feature in my home!

It is always great to catch up with more established brands and see how their line is progressing and share sneak peeks with our followers.  Mini Malisma, Repose Ams, Chistina Rhode and Soft Gallery who always inspire have fabulous collections for SS19.

Streetwear Culture Trends for AW18One of the Key Trends to feature for the coming AW18 season is Streetwear.  Lauren Morrison explores four key styles within this trend.

Street – Globalised Culture (Above Image).

For AW18, street culture is influenced from around the world. This demonstrates styles that are received from a nostalgic past with clashing patterns, youthful and vibrant colours.

Streetwear Culture Trends for AW18

Reinvigorated – Sports Influences (Above).

Sportswear influences the streetwear trend by introducing retro classics for a comfortable contemporary urban wardrobe.

Streetwear Culture Trends for AW18Street Dreams – Everybody is looking for something.

Photographer Rocco Bizzarri created a shoot that has taken a nostalgic reference from the nighties film “Boyz in the Hood”, that was synonymous with “Hip Hop” and street culture of that time. This has influenced the current streetwear trends taking references of zip through track tops, tracksuits, bold statement colours, and denim wear that is left raw and loose.

Streetwear Culture Trends for AW18Street Tribe – It’s Important to find your tribe.

Street tribe has taken references from many street cultures from around the world. This has a playful element to casual styles for children’s wear by incorporating bold prints and patterns for this trend.
