Every so often, a young talent emerges—whether in music, art, movement, or innovation—whose gift feels bigger than their years. At just six years old, Maya Portella Schulz is one of those rare prodigies. Her piano playing doesn’t just impress—it captivates. With breathtaking precision, emotional depth, and an unmistakable sincerity, Maya’s music tells stories that resonate deeply. When she plays, you don’t just hear the notes—you experience a world shaped by wonder, joy, and pure heart.

At Junior Style, we believe storytelling takes many forms—fashion, photography, performance, and beyond. And perhaps the most powerful stories are those told by children who inspire their peers through passion and determination. Maya is one of those children.

Behind every young talent is often an unsung hero—a parent who spots the spark early and nurtures it with quiet dedication. In Maya’s case, her mother plays that role wholeheartedly, supporting her daughter’s dream with love, structure, and unwavering belief.

We had the privilege of speaking with both Maya and her devoted mum about music, childhood dreams, and the beautiful balance between talent and support. Their story is a heartfelt reminder of the magic that unfolds when a child is truly seen and supported.

This is just the beginning of Maya’s journey—but her name is one you won’t forget.

The Piano Whisperer: Young Music Prodigy Maya Portella Schulz

Take a moment to get to know Maya and follow her journey on Instagram—this is only the beginning.

Hi Maya! Can you tell us a little about yourself and what’s been making you smile lately?

Hi! I’m Maya, and I’m six years old. Right now, the best thing is that my granddad is visiting us all the way from Europe! He’s here in Australia with me and Mum, and we’re having so much fun. We play games and eat pancakes together. It feels like sunshine.

What’s your very first memory of the piano? Was it love at first note?

Hmm… I was just a baby, so I don’t really remember. But there are videos of me playing and giggling on the piano when I was tiny. I still do that now—play and laugh at the same time! It’s like the piano is tickling me back.

Is there one song you could play on repeat forever and still love it just as much?

Yes! Prelude in C minor by Bach. It’s deep and kind of dramatic, but beautiful. It makes me feel powerful—like I’m telling a secret without using words.

Do you like reading music or making up your own better?

Oh! I love making up my own songs. I started doing that when I was three. I imagine pictures in my head while I play—like stories with princesses and dragons or sometimes just the sound of rain.

The Piano Whisperer: Young Music Prodigy Maya Portella Schulz

How does it feel when you perform in front of people? Scary or exciting?

It feels like butterflies—but good ones! I get a little nervous at the start, but then I hear the first note, and it’s like the music takes my hand and says, “Let’s do this.” And when people clap? That’s my favorite part!

If your piano had a name and could talk, what would it say to you before a concert?

“Piano” would probably say, “Trust me. We’ve got this.” I think she’d [piano] be kind and wise—maybe a little cheeky too.

What do you do when something feels really, really hard?

I break it into little pieces. Then I play those pieces slowly—five perfect times in a row! That’s my superpower. The next day it’s like, “Hey! I can do this!” and I feel super proud.

What do you love besides music? What fills your days with fun?

I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and athletics—I’m super fast at running! Not so great at throwing though. I also write stories and ride my bike with Mum. And when it’s hot, we go swimming. Splashing around is the best.

When you play, do you imagine stories or feelings?

Always! Some songs feel like dreams. Others remind me of adventures or happy days. I love listening to my recordings in the car or right before bed—they help me remember how I felt when I played them.

What’s your biggest dream for the future?

I want to be a musician! I’ll play piano and guitar and sing—and maybe teach too. I want to help other kids find their music voice, like I found mine.

From Mum, With Love: A Parent’s View Behind the Scenes

Maya’s mother is a quiet powerhouse—balancing support, structure, and boundless love as she nurtures her daughter’s talent. We asked her to share more about what it’s like raising a young artist.

When did you first notice your daughter’s connection to music?
Maya has always been surrounded by music. From a very young age, she listened to melodies with fascination and attended baby music group classes. I knew something special was happening when she began to play lullabies by ear on the piano—songs she had only heard before bedtime. Even before taking formal lessons, she would “compose” her own little tunes. She started official piano lessons at just three years old, but her creativity had already taken root long before then.

Was the piano something she was naturally drawn to, or did you guide her toward it?
We had an electric piano at home, and I always encouraged her to explore it. The only rules were: no food or drinks near the piano, and clean hands before playing! As a baby, she was free to bang on the keys as much as she wanted—we could always turn the volume down! She also loved the pre-recorded music features and would listen to them over and over again, totally mesmerized by the melodies.

How do you support her passion while keeping things fun and lighthearted?
Maya has an amazing music community that keeps things exciting. Her lessons are full of creativity, with fun challenges, prizes to win, and themed concerts held three times a year—where kids even dress up! At home, we make practice playful with colorful flashcards, plush toys, and a little koala bear she clips to her clothes as a reward when she conquers a difficult section. It makes her giggle to think about where the koala might end up next—on her sleeve, her collar, even her socks!

Has there been a moment in her musical journey that moved or surprised you deeply?
Absolutely. I’ll never forget her first public performance. She was just four years old and had a memory slip mid-piece. She stopped and looked out at the audience—I braced myself, thinking she might cry or walk off stage. But instead, she paused calmly and then started over, as if nothing had happened. No tears, no panic, just composure. She’s naturally shy, but on stage, she transforms into this confident performer. Even now, it surprises me every time.

Maya Portella Schulz

Does musical talent run in your family, or is Maya the first?
I played guitar as a child and taught myself a bit of piano, but Maya has far exceeded anything I imagined. I introduced music early on because I wanted her to have a way to express herself—but she’s taken that gift and made it her own.

How involved are you in her practice sessions? Do you guide her, or let her take the lead?
I still sit with her for about 90% of her practice time. It used to be 100%, so we’re making progress! I attend and sometimes film all her piano lessons so I can better understand how to help her at home. Even though she knows what to do, she likes having me next to her—whether it’s to rub her back, touch her hair, or give her a cuddle when she gets frustrated. Those little moments really help her reset and keep going.

How do you balance her musical training with school, rest, and play?
Maya practices every morning before school. After school, she switches gears and plays sports. Then, before dinner, she has quiet time—she showers and relaxes while I prepare the meal. Our schedule is tight, but she thrives on routine, so it works well for us.

How do you handle the attention that comes with early talent—from the media, teachers, or the public?
So far, it’s been a positive experience. Her school teachers are supportive and flexible when she needs time off for concerts or competitions. Journalists who have approached us have been kind and respectful, and the public is generally very encouraging. Of course, there are always comments about how things could be improved—this is classical music, after all, and perfection is elusive! I shield her from negative feedback and only share the positive messages. She can read, but I manage her social media exposure carefully. I never let her read comments unless I’ve checked them first.

That said, Maya is very sensitive when she feels her playing “bothers” others. It’s happened a couple of times in public spaces, and those moments have shaken her confidence for weeks. She’s still so young and vulnerable to discouragement.

What advice would you give to other parents who notice early talent in their child?
Find the right teacher—that’s the single most important thing. Surround your child with people who understand and support their journey. Music is an investment of time, energy, and money for the whole family. If your social circle doesn’t include other music-oriented families, it can feel isolating. But I believe this holds true for any activity pursued at a high level.

What do you hope she remembers most from this chapter of her life—beyond the music itself?
I hope she remembers that anything is possible with consistency, passion, and patience. I also hope that music remains a lifelong source of joy for her, whether she chooses to pursue it professionally or simply keeps it as a treasured hobby.

What are your thoughts on Junior Style?
I deeply admire Junior Style for its commitment to celebrating children and their talents. Kids have so much potential—we often underestimate what they’re capable of. By encouraging their interests early on, we help shape confident, curious, and creative individuals. I’m a big believer in supporting children’s education and development, and I truly value platforms like Junior Style that help them shine.

At just 9 years old, Hattie is already making waves as a rising star in both the modeling and acting worlds. She was awarded Junior Style’s Model of the Year at our very first awards last year and has appeared in campaigns for iconic brands including Balmain, Zara Kids, Misha and Puff, and many others. Most recently, she landed her first lead role in a film—a powerful experience that pushed her creativity and deepened her passion for storytelling. From fashion editorials to the set of NCIS: Origins, Hattie’s journey is just beginning—and it’s one you’ll definitely want to follow.

We caught up with Hattie for a fun editorial photoshoot that captures her bold personality and signature style. Whether she’s dressed in a Lanvin couture gown or keeping it cool in a laid-back casual look, she brings a fresh, effortless energy to everything she wears. Q: Hi Hattie! Tell us a little bit about yourself — what do you love to do?
A: Hi! I’m 9 years old,I live in South Florida and absolutely love the warm sunshine and hot weather! A fun fact about me: I was born in Haiti and moved to the United States when I was 3. I’m a true Caribbean girl at heart.

Q: What’s the best part about being a model and actor?
A: I love bringing my personality and experiences into each photoshoot and role. Every project becomes uniquely me! I also love reuniting with friends I’ve worked with before and meeting new ones. One of the best parts is traveling to new places for exciting adventures!

Q: How did your journey begin?
A: I started modeling at age 5 when I was scouted by an agent who asked to represent me. Then, around 6 or 7, I expanded into acting — and now I love both!

Modeling Moments

Q: Do you have a favorite shoot or brand you’ve worked with?
A: I truly feel lucky to work with every client, but I adore my shoots with the Zara Kids team. They’re always so kind, caring, and really let me be myself.

Q: If you could work with any brand next, who would it be?
A: Polo Ralph Lauren is at the top of my list! They’re iconic in the fashion world. I’d also love to work with any luxury brand — that would be a dream come true!

Q: What do you love most about Junior Style?
A: My mom and I love looking through the blog together. The editorials are so beautiful and feature amazing brands from all over. I especially love the PINK stories (because pink is my fave!). I also had a blast walking in the Junior Style-sponsored Children’s Show — so much fun!

Q: What did it mean to win Junior Style’s Model of the Year?
A: It was such an honor! I was so surprised — and grateful. To be nominated among so many talented models and then chosen by friends and industry professionals meant the world to me.

Q: Are there any models who inspire you?
A: Yes! As a young Black model, I’m always noticing professional models in ads, magazines, store windows… I get so excited when I see them and tell my mom, “That’s gonna be me someday!” One of my biggest inspirations is Maty Fall. Her confidence and beauty — especially on the runway — are amazing!

Q: What’s your favorite item in your closet right now?
A: You might not believe this, but it’s a vintage pair of cut-off Levi’s jean shorts I found at a New York Goodwill — in the boys’ section! They’re super comfy, and I style them with a metallic belt, a white tank or button-down, and metallic sneakers. My style is a mix of tomboy and girly-girl — and it totally works!

Q: Do you follow fashion trends?
A: Not really. I wear what I like! But right now, I’m loving wide-leg pants and pantsuits. I always go for a good set when I find one.

Acting Adventures

Q: You were recently featured in a film! What was that like?
A: Yes! I booked my first lead role, and it was so special to tell the true story of a real-life person. The hardest part was portraying the emotional scenes, especially when I didn’t have personal experiences to relate to. But I dug deep and found the emotion. I also loved working with Krys Marshall — she’s such an amazing actress!

Q: What’s your dream role?
A: Honestly, anything that lets me explore and grow — but something powerful and emotional would be amazing!

Q: What made you want to try acting?
A: Like modeling, I kind of stumbled into it. I gave it a try and realized I love being on set. It’s my favorite place to be!

Q: Any favorite projects so far?
A: I’ve been lucky to do many commercials and series, but my favorite is my current role as Mildred on NCIS: Origins. From the audition to being on set at Paramount, it just feels right — like home.

Q: Who would you love to act alongside someday?
A: Zoe Saldaña — I would be giddy to work with her!

Q: Do you prefer dramatic, comedic, or action roles?
A: I love comedy, but I think my strength is in dramatic roles.

Q: How do you prep for auditions?
A: No big rituals — just hard work, lots of practice, and time with my acting coach!

Life Outside the Spotlight

Q: What are your favorite hobbies?
A: I’m a competitive USAG gymnast, so when I’m not modeling or acting, I’m in the gym! I also love photography — I bring my camera everywhere — and hanging with my BFF and sisters. We swim, scooter, craft… it’s the best.

Q: Favorite subjects at school?
A: Science is my fave! I love experiments and watching chemical reactions. So cool!

Q: What’s your favorite book or movie?
A: My current fave books are And They Found Dragons and Ivy & Bean. My all-time favorite movie is Wicked!

Q: Favorite place in the world?
A: Wherever my family is — that’s home to me.

Q: Any other fashion careers you’d consider someday?
A: For sure — photography and maybe hair and makeup!

Hattie’s Heart

Q: Who inspires you most?
A: Jesus is my #1 role model. I’m learning every day how to follow Him. I also really look up to Simone Biles. She inspires me as a gymnast and as a strong Black woman who works hard and never gives up.

Q: What are your biggest dreams for the future?
A: I just told my mom — I want to be an award-winning actor, a model, and a photographer!

Q: If you had three wishes, what would one of them be?
A: I’d wish for a cleaner earth. I really care about keeping our world beautiful.

Q: What advice do you have for other kids who want to model or act?
A: Be yourself — that’s your superpower!

Q: Any final words of encouragement?
A: Do what makes you happy. Be yourself. And always enjoy others.

Modeling with a Mission

Hi Haven! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you love to do?
Hi! I’m Haven Krys, I’m 11 years old and from San Diego—but honestly, I think I could live anywhere! I’d be happy traveling the world as long as I get to be creative. I find inspiration everywhere. My biggest passions are singing, acting, and modeling. One day, I hope to be a highly successful businesswoman, too!

What’s the best part about being a model?
Traveling to interesting places and spending time with other ambitious, like-minded friends is always my favorite. I also love the creative aspects of both runway and editorial modeling.

What inspired you to start modeling?
My background is in singing, acting, and especially musical theater. I’ve always felt most alive on a stage. Modeling felt like a new and exciting type of stage for me—and after my first experience at fashion show in Los Angeles, I was completely hooked!

Any favorite modeling moments so far?

Participating in a fashion show in the city of stars—Paris—was an absolute dream! I also had so much fun shooting our Junior Style editorial for the New York or Nowhere Children’s Show press—it was unforgettable. I made some lifelong friends during those experiences.

Which brand would be a dream to work with?
Definitely Dior or Zara—they reflect my personal style. But even more than that, I’d love to work with global fashion houses or lifestyle brands to learn how the businesses run. I’m passionate about understanding the industry from every angle.

Fashion Talk

Do you have a favorite fashion blog or magazine?
Junior Style hands down. I am loyal through and through and greatly respect the creative business you have built. I read Elle and Harper’s Baazar often as I have been lucky enough to be featured in each of those and they hold a special place for me.

What do you love most about Junior Style?
It connects talent and voices from all over the industry. The platform has such a unique global lens, offering fashion insights, stunning photography, and a space where kids like me can share our perspectives. There’s nothing else quite like it.

What does being a Junior Style Ambassador mean to you?
It’s a tremendous honor to represent a brand and business that I highly respect. Junior Style empowers kids to have a voice and take the lead when it comes to their opinions on the emerging fashion trends. Aleksandra listens to what we have to say and it is fun to see the all the amazing creativity behind the featured brands. That I get to do it with friends is the cherry on top!

Are there any models you look up to for inspiration? What makes them special to you?

Gigi Hadid is a definite role model for me. She has been modeling since she was very young and people sometimes even say I look like her in her younger photos. She’s gone on to be a successful businesswoman and mother and also finds time to follow her personal passions as well.

Fashion must-haves in your closet?
I love timeless pieces—my Burberry trench coat, Dior Cannage combat boots, and a great pair of Zara or Levi’s jeans. I usually pair them with a classic white tee or tank. Timeless fashion is not only classy but sustainable, which is super important to me.

Current fashion trend you love?
I’m loving the boho chic look, especially when it’s styled like Chloé does it—effortlessly elegant.

THE O dress

Beyond the Runway

What else do you enjoy outside of modeling?
Music is everything to me—I’m a singer through and through. My mom always says that if I’m not singing, she knows something is wrong. I’m also passionate about transitioning my acting efforts from musical theater to commercial work, and I’m actively training for that now. In my spare time, I golf and play soccer every fall—I’m actually super competitive!

Favorite school subject?
Language arts. I love to write and tell stories and that’s part of what I find so exciting about fashion and song and acting, it’s all a story to be told in its own way!

What do you love to do in your free time?
Travel. I have been blessed to travel the world to many cool locations but there are so many places I still want to see! My bucket list includes visiting Spain, fishing in Alaska and to see the northern Lights in Iceland. Other than travel I just really like hanging out with my friends- sleepovers, swimming and spending time together.

If you could have three wishes, what would they be? My first wish would be to have the ability to teleport, so I could visit anybody or any place, anytime! I would also wish to have my own successful brand that encompasses everything from fashion to lifestyle and entertainment to charity. I want to do it all! Last but most “next step” wish is to get a golden retriever of my own!

Theater Dreams & Big Screens

We heard you recently participated in a theater musical play! Can you tell us about it? What did you like the most, and what was the most challenging part?
Yes! This was one of my favorite productions I’ve been a part of. I played Sandy in the musical theater production of Grease. It was such an iconic role to take on, so there was definitely a lot of pressure to do it justice—especially singing a classic like Hopelessly Devoted! But I love a challenge, and I feel like it was a huge accomplishment to play the role well and receive such strong reviews. One of my favorite things in the world is nailing a hard song!

What’s your dream role in a theater production or film?
More than anything, I would love to land a leading role in a recurring series that’s a bit grittier and more challenging to portray—something like Millie Bobby Brown’s role as Eleven in Stranger Things.

What inspired you to start acting? Was there a particular show or movie that made you want to try it?
When I was five, I got to be in a Disney 365 TV commercial, and it completely sparked my love for the entertainment industry! I was part of something special alongside all the successful child actors on Disney that I greatly admired. I knew I could do it too! The sky is the limit!

Have you been part of any plays, movies, commercials, or special projects? Which one was your favorite and why?
The Disney commercial holds a special place in my heart because it was the beginning of my long love for acting. More recently, I really enjoyed our days at the trade shows in New York with my fellow Junior Style Ambassadors. I want to continue diving into and experiencing as many different sides of the fashion and entertainment industry as possible. This was such a cool opportunity to explore emerging trends and brands, while also having a platform to share our perspectives.

If you could act alongside any famous actor, who would it be and why?
Kate Winslet—because I would learn so much from her! From Titanic to The Holiday, her range is incredible, and I feel like she could teach me so much.

What kind of roles do you enjoy playing the most — dramatic, comedic, or action-packed?
I enjoy it all, but I’d have to say dramatic roles are my favorite because you get to explore all the different sides of human emotions. I like a challenge!

How do you prepare for auditions or performances? Do you have any fun rituals or good luck routines?
Practice is obviously key—I tend to overprepare for things! But I also really try to put myself in the shoes of whatever character I’m playing. As for rituals, I like to do vocal warm-ups, box breathing, and a fun good-luck choreography routine I picked up from my dance friends.

Big Dreams, Big Heart

Who inspires you the most?
My mom—she works harder than anyone I know. She’s had a successful career while also focusing selflessly on our family. Another person who inspires me is Taylen Biggs—we’re the same age, and it’s amazing what she’s built for herself in entertainment.

What’s your biggest dream for the future?
I want to do it all! More than anything, I hope to translate all of my passions into a successful, lasting business model—one that not only thrives but also empowers other girls to follow their dreams too.

Favorite book or movie?
I love to read everything from The Wit and Wisdom of Mark Twain to The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. My all-time favorite movie is Titanic—it’s just epic.

Favorite place in the world?
Oregon and Paris. Oregon is my cozy, happy place and Paris is where fashion dreams and beautiful creativity come to life!

Words of Wisdom

If not modeling or acting, which other professions in fashion attract your interest?

I want to run my own business, so I am interested in learning about each and every side that the fashion industry has to offer!

What advice would you give to other kids dreaming of modeling or acting?
Go for it! Don’t be afraid to shine bright and be bold.

Any final words of encouragement?
You can achieve any dream with passion and hard work. Never stop believing in yourself!

We’re certain this is just the beginning for Haven Krys, a future icon in the making. Whether she’s gracing the runway, belting out a ballad, or dreaming up a new business plan, one thing is clear—this young star is here to inspire.

Kids are not just dolls dressed in beautiful clothes; they are collaborators, storytellers, and the very inspiration behind the art we create.

Today, we’re excited to introduce Angelica, a model who embodies this spirit. More than just a rising star in fashion, she is a passionate storyteller, a fearless traveler, and a dreamer with a love for style. With a unique perspective, global experiences, and an undeniable dedication to her craft, Angelica is a name to watch.

We had the pleasure of meeting her in Miami for an editorial photoshoot, where she brought a new story to life—one that we can’t wait to share with you.

Meet Angelica: The Globe-Trotting Model with a Passion for Fashion

Meet Me in Miami
RHYME dress, COACH boots, JOHN RICHMOND KIDS vest

What inspired you to start modeling?
It all started when a brand was looking for a small model with a Nordic look. Since I’m half Dutch, my mother decided to send in my photos—and just like that, I was selected! That moment marked the beginning of an incredible journey.

Are you represented by a modeling or acting agency?
Yes, I’m represented by various agencies around the world. But since I love to travel, I’m always excited to collaborate in new countries. I guess you could say I’m a true globe-trotter!

What’s the best part about being a model?
For me, modeling is all about storytelling. I love using my body and eyes to express emotions and interpret the mood of each brand. But beyond that, it’s the amazing people I meet—the friends, the cultures, and some of the best photographers in the world. This job connects me to all of that.

What has been your favorite photoshoot or project so far?
That’s a tough one! But I’d have to say my recent shoot for Twin Set. It involved some beautiful dogs… I can’t reveal too much yet, but stay tuned!

Which brands have you modeled for?
I’ve been lucky to work with so many brands! Some of them include Benetton, Dsquared, Guess, Twin Set, Maison Ava, Monnalisa, Latara, National Geographic, and Decathlon. I’ve also been featured in top editorial projects and landed a few covers in magazines like Elle Kids, Style Piccoli and many others.

If you could work with any brand, which one would be at the top of your list?
Of course, like every model, I dream of working with the biggest fashion houses. But I believe every brand is a unique adventure, and so much depends on the photographer and creative team. That said, I’d love to work with Bellrose, A076, and Zadig & Voltaire!

What advice would you give to other kids who want to be models?
First, do your homework when choosing an agency—it’s an important step! Second, modeling is hard work. It requires a lot of sacrifices, not just for you but for your family too. Only pursue it if it’s your true passion, not just because someone else wants it for you. It’s a long road to the top!

What’s your favorite fashion magazine or blog?
I love all fashion magazines because they inspire me, but my two absolute favorites are Junior Style and Elle Kids. Junior Style is so cool and open to global trends, and Elle Kids showcases all the top luxury brands.

What do you love most about Junior Style?
I admire your unique selection of articles and the originality of your photos. The way you present kids’ fashion is always fresh and inspiring.

What does it mean to you to be a Junior Style Ambassador?
It means a lot! Being chosen as an ambassador for one of my favorite magazines makes me feel proud. I love that Junior Style actually gives kids a voice in fashion. It’s such an honor to be part of that!

Which models do you look up to for inspiration?
There are so many incredible models—both young and established—that I admire. But in the end, I want to stay original and hopefully inspire others in my own way.

What’s your favorite item in your closet?
Definitely my leopard-print jeans from Bellrose! I love them so much.

Who is your role model?
My family. They take turns supporting me and my passions, even when they might wish for something different for me. Beyond that, I admire great women who have made history—especially Coco Chanel. She revolutionized women’s fashion by giving us freedom and innovation in style.

Do you have any other hobbies or sports you enjoy?
Yes! I love gymnastics, horse riding, and swimming—especially since I live near the sea.

What are your favorite subjects in school?
Math and Narrative. I enjoy problem-solving, but I also love storytelling.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spending time outdoors and staying active. But I also love diving into a good book or watching my favorite movies.

If you could have three wishes, what would they be?
I have some big wishes… but in Italy, we’re superstitious! If I say them out loud, they might not come true.

If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be?
Taylor Swift—because who wouldn’t? And Rudy Pankow, the talented and charismatic actor from Outer Banks!

What’s your favorite book or movie?
My favorite book is Little Women—it’s such a beautiful story about family love. As for movies, The Parent Trap is my all-time favorite. It’s a special bond I share with my sister—we’ve watched it over 100 times together (yes, really!).

Eva Leah Buerstedde

JS: Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you love to do.
My name is Eva Leah, and I’m passionate about dancing, acting, modeling, and creating art. I thrive on creativity—it’s my happy place, where I feel the most alive and inspired.

JS: What inspired you to start modeling, and how did your journey begin?
Growing up, I was fascinated by my mom’s modeling photos. They felt like windows into a magical world and sparked my dream of creating my own path in the industry. My journey began at just three years old when I had my first casting for the Philipp Plein NYFW show. That unforgettable experience ignited my passion for modeling, and I haven’t looked back since.

JS: What’s the best part about being a model?
The best part of modeling is the incredible opportunities it brings. I get to travel to breathtaking places, meet inspiring people from all walks of life, and share emotions through my expressions. It’s a unique way of storytelling and connecting with others, and I absolutely love it.

Eva Leah Buerstedde

MODELING ADVENTURES

JS: What has been your favorite photoshoot or project so far?
My favorite shoot was in New York for the Children’s Show. We explored some truly iconic locations like Central Park, The Plaza, and the Top of the Rock. It felt like stepping into a fairytale—I even imagined myself as Eloise at The Plaza, living in that enchanting world for a day!

JS: If you could work with any brand, which one would be at the top of your list? Why?
Chanel would be an absolute dream to work with! Their designs are timeless and elegant, and I’ve always admired Coco Chanel’s inspiring story. She started as an orphan, and went on to create a legendary empire. Her journey proves that no dream is too big to achieve.

JS: What’s your favorite fashion magazine or blog? Do you have a favorite trend right now?
Whenever I flip through Vogue, I feel like I’m traveling through time, exploring the most beautiful eras of fashion. As for trends, I’m currently obsessed with bows and ribbons. They have such a vintage charm and add a classic, timeless touch to any look.

Eva Leah Buerstedde

JS: What do you like most about Junior Style? How has it inspired you?
I love how Junior Style introduces innovative brands and highlights forward-thinking trends, like sustainability. For example, through my collaboration with Kidswear Collective—an opportunity I was invited to by the amazing Junior Style team—I gained valuable insight into eco-conscious fashion. It truly opened my eyes to the impact fashion can have on our planet. This experience has inspired me to dream of creating my own brand someday, one that’s not only stylish but also sustainable and kind to the world we share.

JS: Which models do you look up to for inspiration? What makes them special to you?
Kaia Gerber is one of my biggest inspirations. I admire her classic beauty and how she’s followed in her mother’s footsteps while carving her own path. I relate to her journey because I also draw so much inspiration from my mom and my grandmother, both of whom are beautiful inside and out. Their strength and kindness continue to guide me every day.

JS: What’s your favorite item in your closet, and how do you like to style it?
My Levi’s jean jacket with my name embroidered on the back is my absolute favorite! It’s such a timeless classic, and I love how versatile it is. I can layer it with almost anything, and it always adds just the right touch of effortless cool to my outfits.

Eva Leah Buerstedde

HOBBIES & PASSIONS

JS: Do you have other hobbies or sports you enjoy? Tell us more!
I absolutely love dancing, acting, and singing! I’m a competitive dancer, and my studio feels like a second home. Acting is another passion of mine, and I cant’t wait to make my dream of playing a lead role come true! Singing is also such a creative outlet for me that allows me to express myself in a different way. I’m so excited to see where these passions take me in the future!

JS: What are your favorite subjects in school? Why do you love them?
Science is my favorite subject because it’s all about discovering how the world works. I was especially fascinated by learning about ways to reduce fossil fuels. It’s amazing how small actions, like biking or walking instead of driving, can help protect our planet.

JS: If you could have three wishes, what would they be?

  • To achieve my dreams of becoming a successful actress and singer.
  • To have the ability to pause time and relive my favorite moments—whether it’s being on set, performing on stage, or just spending quality time with my family.
  • To stay healthy and strong so I can keep chasing everything I’m passionate about.

DANCING & ACTING

JS: Tell us about dancing! What styles do you enjoy the most?
I absolutely love contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop because they let me express different sides of my personality—whether it’s something soft and emotional, upbeat and energetic, or full of attitude and flair.

JS: What do you like the most about dancing? And what’s the most challenging part?
What I love most about dancing is how it allows me to tell a story and express emotions without saying a single word. It’s like poetry in motion. The most challenging part is overcoming stage nerves, but I’ve learned that saying a prayer before performing helps me feel calm and confident.

JS: What is your dream role in a dance performance or theater production?
I dream of playing Annie on Broadway—it would be such a magical experience! I’d also love to perform as Clara in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Both roles are full of charm and inspiration.

JS: What inspired you to explore acting? Was there a particular show or movie you loved?
The movie Matilda really inspired me. I admired how Matilda used her kindness, courage, and creativity to make her own magic. Dakota Fanning is another huge inspiration for me. Watching her as a young actress showed me that big dreams are possible with hard work and dedication.

JS: Have you been in any plays, movies, commercials, or special projects? Which one was your favorite?
One of my favorite projects was performing at a Saks Fifth Avenue event celebrating dance and kids’ fashion. It was such an incredible opportunity to combine two things I love most—performing and fashion!

JS: If you could act alongside any famous actor, who would it be and why?
I’d love to work with Reese Witherspoon or Lindsay Lohan. Reese’s energy and confidence in Legally Blonde are so inspiring, and Lindsay’s charisma and versatility in The Parent Trap really make her stand out.

JS: How do you prepare for auditions or performances? Do you have any fun rituals?
I like to create a quiet space to focus and fully connect with my character. Saying a prayer before I begin is my way of centering myself. I also talk to my Naunni, who watches over me from above—she gives me strength and inspires me to do my best.

DREAMS & INSPIRATIONS

JS: Who is your role model, and how do they inspire you?
My parents are my greatest role models. They’ve shown me the value of hard work, staying dedicated, and always following my heart. My mom, in particular, has taught me the importance of giving back. We both love supporting St. Jude’s charity, and her generosity and kindness inspire me every day.

JS: What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to win both an Oscar and a Grammy for creating work that touches and inspires others. I want to use my success to give back, helping to make a difference in the world.

JS: Do you see yourself continuing to model, act, or dance—or maybe all three?
Absolutely! Modeling, acting, and dancing are such big parts of who I am. I’m so grateful that I discovered these passions early on, and I can’t wait to continue exploring and growing in all of them!

JS: What’s your favorite book or movie, and why do you love it?
I absolutely adore the Roald Dahl series. His stories transport me to magical worlds, and each one sparks my creativity in new ways. They make me believe that anything is possible!

JS: What is your favorite place in the world?
New York City is my favorite place—it’s filled with art, energy, and endless inspiration. I was born there, so it will always have a special place in my heart, and every time I visit, it feels like home.

JS: What would you recommend to other kids who want to try modeling, acting, or dancing?
My advice is to follow your dreams with all your heart and never let anything stand in your way. Believe in yourself, stay dedicated, and keep pushing forward—you’re capable of achieving amazing things!

GlamZGala Shines Bright in LA: A Night of Fashion, Talent, and Creativity

On October 20, the heart of Los Angeles became the stage for a dazzling display of young talent and high fashion at GlamZGala, the international kids’ fashion and talent event that’s making waves in the industry. Hosted in the city known for its glamour and star-studded events, GlamZGala exceeded expectations with its vibrant celebration of youth, creativity, and self-expression.

A Night to Remember

This year’s GlamZGala attracted a wide range of young models, designers, and influencers, all eager to showcase their talents. The event featured a spectacular runway show that highlighted stunning collections from emerging and well-established children’s fashion brands. Under the expert helm of creative director Aleksandra Ataca, Junior Style’s editor-in-chief, the selection of brands, styling, and overall vision was a perfect fit for showcasing the young stars. Junior Style proudly returned as the exclusive media partner, bringing its refined touch to the project and elevating the show to new heights.

Aleksandra’s direction brought together eight top brands, each presenting standout collections:

Monnalisa, the Italian mogul renowned for its luxurious, whimsical designs.

Molo, the best heritage brand by the Junior Style Awards, known for its trendsetting collections from Denmark.

TWIMC, an emerging star in children’s footwear, adding a chic edge to the runway looks.

Patachou, from Portugal, which showcased timeless elegance with beautifully crafted garments.

Ozlem Karatay, renowned for its Kids Haute Couture, bringing an air of glamour.

LiaLea and SHESHE from Turkey, both offering unique, detailed designs.

Stella Mlia and Ozlem Karatay Teens, catering to young girls who love fashion but seek age-appropriate, stylish options.

Sal & Pimenta, known for its adorable pieces for the smallest attendees.

The designs on the runway ranged from chic streetwear to couture-level gowns, offering a delightful mix of styles for every taste. The colorful, playful silhouettes embodied youthful elegance, with the young models bringing the outfits to life. The audience, a mix of fashion professionals and enthusiasts, marveled at the creativity and craftsmanship behind each look.

Beyond the glamour, GlamZGala remains committed to making a difference. This year, the event partnered with several charities to ensure proceeds would go toward empowering children and supporting initiatives focused on education and creativity. Among the charitable partners was YourMomCares, an organization focused on children’s mental health. This partnership emphasized the event’s mission to not only celebrate fashion and talent but also foster community and compassion.

The night was graced by influential personalities and VIP guests from the fashion world, including top child influencers and their parents. The event’s B2C focus made it an inclusive experience, offering families, designers, and fashion enthusiasts the opportunity to connect in an intimate yet glamorous setting. The diverse audience, which included local communities and international supporters, created a vibrant, multicultural atmosphere, enhancing the overall excitement and energy of the night.

As GlamZGala continues to grow, it remains a beacon of opportunity for young talent in the global fashion industry. Each event raises the bar, drawing in a more diverse and talented group of participants and supporters. The Los Angeles edition was a resounding success, leaving attendees eager for future collaborations and events. In the words of Anna Matchneva, founder of GlamZGala, “It’s incredible to see how much passion and creativity these young talents bring to the stage. GlamZGala is about giving them the space to shine and inspire others, and tonight they did just that.”

As the curtains closed on this magical night, one thing was clear: GlamZGala is not just an event—it’s a movement, celebrating the next generation of trendsetters, artists, and visionaries. The future of fashion has never looked brighter.

Chit Chat with Emma Bobok, the winner of Junior Style Award.

Today at Chit Chat Tuesday, we have a very special guest… meet Emma Bobok, the 6-year-old fashionista from Italy. We had the pleasure of meeting Emma and her mom in New York. Emma, who was honored with the Junior Style Award for Best Kid Fashion Blogger, captivated everyone with her style and personality. Following her triumph on the runway, where she opened the kids’ fashion show at the Children’s Show event organized by Junior Style, we spent a delightful morning in Central Park. During our time together, we chatted about kids’ fashion, aesthetics, travels, and future plans. Here’s a glimpse into Emma’s vibrant world and the exciting journey she’s on.

Tell us your story. How did you start your blog?
I started an Instagram page for Emma when she was born, which began as a simple album. However, during the COVID period, I decided to revamp it entirely. I began sharing photos of Emma in various poses with a strong emphasis on her outfits. What started as a fun game—Emma striking poses and me capturing her moments—quickly turned into a beloved routine. Emma enjoyed seeing herself in the photos, and from there, our little project blossomed into something much more special!

Where do you get your inspiration for your styling?
Inspiration for me flows effortlessly. I stay up-to-date with the latest collections, and that’s where my ideas and creativity spark. Each new collection brings fresh perspectives and styles that fuel my imagination and keep my fashion sense vibrant and exciting.

Three words describing Emma.
Cool, funny, ready for everything.

What is Emma’s favorite activity?
Emma is a bundle of enthusiasm with a passion for tennis, dancing, and playing the guitar. She loves diving into new experiences, whether it’s exploring new places, watching cartoons, playing Roblox, or just staying stylishly dressed. Her zest for life shines through everything she does!

What is your favorite brand?
It’s hard to pick just one, but we really love Gucci. It’s always relevant, high-quality, and sophisticated.

What do you think about social media?
Social media opens up a world of endless possibilities. How we harness those opportunities is entirely up to us, allowing each person to shape their own unique digital experience.

Favorite place in the world?
Paris. It’s incredibly inspiring and holds a special place in our hearts.

Which benefits has blogging brought you?
Blogging has opened doors to a diverse network of people within the children’s clothing industry and beyond. We’ve had the pleasure of meeting many creative individuals from all over the world, enriching our experience and broadening our horizons.

Blogging provides Emma with a fantastic opportunity to develop her skills in front of the camera, build resilience, and refine her sense of aesthetics and style. Regardless of the career path she chooses in the future, these experiences offer a solid foundation. Additionally, our blog offers just a small glimpse into her world through these curated squares, as we prioritize protecting her privacy and keep her daily life away from the public eye.

What does winning the Junior Style Awards mean to you?

Winning the Junior Style Awards is something I can’t fully put into words. Being recognized among thousands of cool and talented individuals as Best Kid Fashion Blogger, is profoundly meaningful. It’s an incredible honor to be acknowledged by such a reputable judging panel and our favorite platform. This award has given us a tremendous boost in confidence and motivation, inspiring us to push our creativity further and elevate our blog to new heights.

Can you share a memorable moment or experience you’ve had since starting your blog?
One memorable moment was when we began collaborating with CoccoleBimbi. We had the chance to meet the talented Cesare Morisco and his family during the first year of COVID. Despite everyone wearing masks, it was an incredibly special experience that left a lasting impression.

How do you balance blogging with your schoolwork and other activities?
We dedicate Saturdays and Sundays to content creation. Managing our time effectively and staying responsible are crucial for balancing all aspects of our busy schedule.

What advice would you give to other kids who want to start their own blog?
Treat everything you do with love, stay genuine, embrace new challenges, and keep a positive attitude.

How do you choose which brands or products to feature on your blog?
Choosing which brands or products to feature on our blog is a creative process that blends inspiration and collaboration. We curate our content based on the mood we want to capture, which helps us create a cohesive and engaging visual story. Additionally, we highlight brands we collaborate with, ensuring that our selections align with both our aesthetic vision and our partnerships. This approach allows us to showcase a diverse range of styles while staying true to our unique flair.

What has been the most challenging part of blogging for you?
Initially, I was very concerned about potential haters and negative comments, especially after seeing how they could affect other bloggers. I worried that such negativity could overshadow the hard work we put in. Fortunately, we’ve only received one negative comment, which we just laughed off. Nonetheless, it remains a significant concern as we navigate the blogging world.

Do you have any upcoming projects or collaborations you’re excited about?
I’m really looking forward to our trip to China in September. We’ll be shooting the new @raspberryplum collection there!

How do you stay updated with the latest trends in fashion and style?
I stay updated by actively following the latest collections and immersing myself in current trends. This involves keeping an eye on fashion shows, exploring new releases from top designers, and engaging with industry news. By staying connected to the pulse of the fashion world, I ensure that my content remains fresh, relevant, and in tune with the ever-evolving style landscape.

What is one thing you wish more people knew about blogging?
Blogging is indeed hard work, requiring a significant investment of time, resources, and effort. From conceptualizing content and capturing the perfect shots to editing and engaging with the audience, every aspect demands dedication. However, the rewards—seeing your vision come to life, connecting with readers, and achieving personal and professional growth—make all the hard work worthwhile.

How has blogging influenced your personal style or interests?
Blogging has opened doors to collaborations with numerous brands, providing us with access to a diverse array of clothing and accessories. This rich variety has not only enhanced our personal style but also allowed us to explore and experiment with different facets of fashion. Each new collaboration brings fresh opportunities and ideas, continually enriching our creative journey.

What do you like about Junior Style?
I love everything about Junior Style! From your published materials and the seamless organization of events like the Children Show runway and Junior Style Awards 24, to the incredible Aleksandra, who I absolutely adore.
